This week I am mostly building PC’s . .

Published by Vince under Computers,Daily Post,Work

starting off with my MD’s from his home and while I’m doing it I’ve apparently got to show him how to install Windows XP, now this normally wouldn’t be a problem, however as it’s always hard to pin him down for anything at all, I think this is going to take alot longer then the usual Windows install.

I can just imagine it with me having start the install whenever he’s available to do it and to stop it whenever he needs to see someone about something else, so what would normally take a couple of hours or 1/2 day now were up to service pack 3 will probably take the whole fcuking week, I sometimes wonder if I’m being punished for a crime in a previous life and my penance is things like this.

Anyway I’ve got 2 other PC’s to set up as well. but at least with those two I can just use my Ghost disc and have them loaded in about 1hr . . so there are small mercy’s I suppose.

Woke up to a flat tyre . . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Flickr Gallery

this morning and ended up having to change it for the spare, only thing is the boot of the car was still crammed full of all our camping gear from the weekend, so after spending 5-10mins emptying the boot I discover my spares not exactly pumped up fully, also had a near-disaster actually changing the tyre itself, BMW’s shitty little car jack slipped backwards, nearly dropping the car onto its axle, thankfully though I’d just started to put the spare on and that was sort of holding it up.

Lucky for me there were a couple of workmen at a neighbours doing some wall insulation and they spotted what had happened and came to my assistance, helping me balance the car while I finished fitting the wheel.

So with a part pumped up wheel made my way to the local tyre garage and got them to check the tyres and after being shown in great detail that most of my tyres were near enough illegal ended up splashing out £276 on 4 new tyres for the car, something I’d rather not have had to do, but suppose it’s a good thing as we’ve got the drive to the big chill in less the 36 days and then theres the drive to Cornwall for our holiday, so we’re talking about at least 1400 miles of travelling in the next 2 months and I’d rather do it on new tyres then fcuked up nearly bald ones.

While I’m doing this post might as well let you all know I’ve now uploaded the pictures from our little camping trip to the Lake District, Coniston imparticular, not much to see except us lot sat round a camp fire

Tme-Lapse Journeys . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post, time lapse movies

to and from work over a period of 2 days 23-24th June 2008.

So I found out my Canon Ixus 80IS can do time-lapse, so after digging out my bonnet mount for my camcorder I attached the camera to the car and filmed the previous 2 days journeys to and from work.

Added some music by Daft Punk to them, but not to happy with the music at the moment so might try some Orb as the soundtrack instead, will play about with it a bit more tonight

Crisps banned from the office . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Work

Yes believe it or not as stated above, we have now been informed that crisps are now a banned foodstuff in the office, this now joins :

Cuppa Soup’s
Hot Chocolate
Fresh Coffee

Though we have been assured that biscuits and fruit are allowed as these are deemed healthy, we were also informed that we should all be having a proper breakfast and by doing so that will enable us to survive till lunchtime without having to eat in the gap between, well some of us don’t actually have breakfast either because we don’t have time or we actually don’t have breakfast as a rule.

Anyway the reason crisps have been banned is due to the noise created by opening a packet of crisps and the noise from eating them and also by the fact that the MD doesn’t like people grazing at there desk’s, mmmm when did I become a cow then ?

Other things mentioned were that we should all smile while answering the phone, this is so that we can convey over the phone our happy mood to our customer’s, well how can people who have been banned from eating there favourite foodstuff’s be happy, if anything our disgruntlement’s at having these rules/ban’s imposed will just make us frown.

It’s also been raised again that the Office in general is to loud and also untidy, its a working office it’s bound to be loud, as for untidy, yes it can be sometimes, but most of the time I think it’s generally very tidy.

£1.24 a litre . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post

that’s how much it cost me on the way back from the lakes yesterday, this was at a BP Garage  on the M6, when I left Manchester on Friday it was about £1.19 a litre and that was a Shell garage.

Pretty soon it’s going to be so expensive I won’t be able to drive at all, these price increase would start to hike up just a couple of months before we’re supposed to be going to Cornwall on holiday, just hoping they start to go down again pretty damn quick as if they don’t that 1200 mile round trip there and back is going to take most of our spending money just to pay for the petrol.

At the rate the prices are rising it looks like we’ll be soon paying £1.50 a litre within the next month or so, how much longer are people going to stand for such large price hikes

Back from the Lakes . . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post

were we spent a weekend with Liam, Ben, John and Sophie, well to be honest we got back yesterday, this was due to the weather in Coniston being absolutely appalling, it was fine Friday night when we got there, but come Saturday morning it was just pissing it down, spent most of the day in the Black Bull and Ben’s caravan.

Just while I’m on about the Black Bull, I must highly recommend it, its Dog Friendly, the foods amazing (try the ale battered haddock) and the ciders mind blowing (SAXONS Cider 7.2%), the companies pretty decent as well, met some blokes from Hull of all places in there, they seemed to be having a good time, we also met a rather nice Dutch couple, who were walking there way around the lake district, which is a hell of a lot of walking indeed.

Should also mention that as is always the case when we go anywhere with Blue, she was the centre of attention, everyone wanting to know what breed she was and where she came from and how pretty she was, seems she’s building up a hell of a fan base around the country, reckon she should run for PM one day :)

After the Pub we headed back to the caravan to join the rest of them but got to admit, being confined to a caravan with no one but Ben, John and Sophie when its pissing it down outside is not the best weekend one could have, Liam realised that and left about 7:00pm on Saturday, we left at about 10:30pm, got home about 01:15am Sunday morning.

No offence to Ben, but listening to cheesy house tracks and trance tracks on a rainy Saturday afternoon is not conducent to a fun time, and Sophie if ya reading this please stop going so deep into peoples answers if someone says something just accept it, don’t try and disect it or question it, just accept that’s there answer and no matter how much you try you ain’t going to change there mind, at the most your just going to piss them off . . . there I’ve said it, and I’ve said it because your a mate.

In other news 2 friends have now parted ways, don’t know if there going to get it back on or not, but whatever they decide to do they both just need to stay friends at the very least.

Anyway that was our weekend, most of it was ok, just a few hiccups but all in all very good.

T-Mobile sending Sim Cards in the post . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post,T-Mobile

yet we don’t even have any phones with T-Mobile . .

Mel received 2 of the sims this morning in a plain white envelope, no covering letter, nothing except 2 sims in a individual plastic wallets, so rang T-Mobile to investigate this morning and all they said was send them back and we’ll investigate, I’m a little concerned that someone out there might have ordered s phone/sims/god knows what in Mel’s name, as she’s never given her details to T-Mobile, so how have they got them.

Will just wait and see what happens next after I send them back with a covering letter.
