Manchesters German Market

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Food

is the place  . . . we’ll be tomorrow if all goes according to plan, the idea is we’ll take Blue for her usual Saturday morning walk round Ivy Green, have breakfast at Orlando’s and then head into town and see the delights on offer at the German Market, this will be only my 3rd visit to it in the 10yrs I’ve lived in Manchester, don’t know why I never bothered going before, just never seemed to get around to it, think its not living near the city centre I expect.

Anyway this year Mel’s actually going to come into town with me to visit the Market, we’re going to take Blue as well as we think that the crowds might help her with her socialisation skills, though then again she might just be the normal little shy girl she is and just be a little confused by all the 2 legs rushing by her, but once she gets everyone saying what a beautiful girl she is, she’ll be fine.

Thing I’m most looking forward to at the Market is the German Sausages and Mulled wine, top notch both of them, think I managed 3 sausages last year and boy where they big sausages

The Market turns St Ann’s Square into a little piece of wintery German traditional Market with its brightly lit wooden chalets selling everything from Sausages, Mulled Wine, Cheese, unusal presents and just about anything that could be associated with food and Christmas

The Market Runs from:

18th Nov – 21st Dec 2008 at St Ann’s Square and its open dailey from 10am-8pm (9pm in Albert Square)

But don’t just be drawn to St Ann’s Square as there are parts of the Market dotted all around the ajoining streets and roads, so go check them all out and enjoy it, I know we will :)

No doubt I’ll post a few videos of what we did and ate

WordPress Upgrade 2.6.5 did’nt go to well . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Wordpress Plugins

Took me about 5 attempts to get the upgrade installed properly, kept on having problems with the Visual Editor and the tags function after the installs, couldn’t figure it out at first and googling the problem didn’t seem to help much either, as it seemed no one knew the answer to the question or the answer they had didn’t work for my particular situation.

Anyway after sitting down and thinking about it for a couple of hours, I started from the base upwards and went through every single folder on my website and compared each file to the upgrade files, anyway after about an hour I found to my dismay that a number of files hadn’t copied across properly during the upgrade, so after another 30 min’s of noting down which files where missing and uploading them one at a time I finally got the upgrade to take and now as you can see from I’m back on-line with my visual editor and tags back  happy days.

Now I’ve just got to wait around for the next upgrade which should be hopefully 2.7 with all its fancy bells and whistles, lets hope that ones a little simpler to install/upgrade.

Salvia Divinorum

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Videos

Well went to a friends party last weekend and one of our friends decided to take Salvia for the first time, now Salvia is an  entheogen, cy that I mean a psychoactive substance used in a religious or shamanic rituals and is known to bring on what users perceive as spiriual or mystical experience, its not something to trifle with if you’ve never taken anything like this before.

Well Liam decided that he was up for it and we being the friends we are let him have a go, I filmed the experience (its on my YouTube page) and then remixed it with a few special effects to give you an idea of what he went through, hope you like it (he did’nt).

Don’t think us encouraging him helped alot or the fact I put the idea into his head that he might piss and shit himself (at one point he thought he had).

I’ve done Salvia twice before and enjoyed the whole experience, but it’s not for everyone and I don’t think I’ll do it again

So what plans for today then .

Published by Vince under Daily Post

Well to start off we’ve been for our usual walk around Ivy Green with Blue, saw a few of the oterh regular dog walkers and there dogs, was especially nice to bump inot the lady from Irlam with her rottie Marley, Blue certainly seems to like him and the feelings reciprecated, plus Marley tires Blue out a fair bit with all the running and chasing.

Headed to Orlando’s afterwards for the Supreme Breakfast and Blues sausages, this is sort of becoming a pilgrimage every weekend now, can’t be helped though as there breakfasts are indeed very supreme, can’t recommned this place enough for breakfast.

The afternoons been spent catching up on a few TV series I’ve been downloading, these being Supernatural, The Fringe, The Sanctuary, My name is Earl and Stargate Atlantis, so had a bit of the square eyes after watching all those, probably now going to play 1/2 hr of Left 4 Dead (very addictive game).

The this evening it shall be a wander across to John and Sophies where hopefully Liam and Ben shall be and an evening of Merriment shall ensue no doubt . .  just have to wait and see

Christmas Party at work tonight

Published by Vince under Daily Post

Most of the office is attending and the same goes for the Warehouse, I shall not be attending for reasons of my own, anyone who knows me already know those reasons and they also know why I can’t discuss them on here, but to those are going hope you all have a good time and feel free to have a G &  T  for me won’t you :)

I’ll hopefully get to see the nights events at some point as there going to be filming it in a sort of “This is Your Life ” way i.e. someone’s going to be surprised and have there life history told to the enthralled crowds, so should be an interesting video to watch when its been edited.

Anyway

Not had the heart to post recently, had alot of things playing on my mind at work, which presently I can’t discuss openly, from fear of it biting me back in the arse, hopefully when it all clears over I can maybe discuss a bit more

One thing I would like to say is, “Why can’t I get more support at work ?”

2 Found Dead

Published by Vince under Daily Post

All that Police action yesterday outside our road last night turns out to involve the death of two 70yr old’s, just heard it on the radio and now its on the BBC News website

“An elderly couple have been found dead in their home, police said today.

The bodies of a man and a woman, both in their 70s, were discovered at the house in Davyhulme, Greater Manchester, at 6.05pm yesterday.

Police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths, and it is understood the deaths were not the result of a joint suicide pact.

Postmortem examinations were due to take place later today.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester police said: “An investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths is currently under way.”

Officers were called to the house following a report that two people had been found dead.”

Its very sad really that 2 old people can die and nobody notice, just heard from someone else that the couple were not having the best of times, possibly due to terminal cancer.
