The Birdfeeder Plug-in I added to my WordPress installation does indeed work, the last post appeared almost immediately in my Twitter account, so it looks like my fellow twitters out there are now going to be deluged with random blog posts from here, I’ve also managed to get YouTube to recognise my blog now, so it’ll be easier to post my videos on here as I load them onto You Tube, which means it’ll be fairly instantaneous, rather then taking me about a week to actually get my finger out and do it, just in the process of testing that now as well to see how it works, so keep an eye out for a couple of video posts from my You Tube account
Mmm just added the Birdfeeder Plug-in to my WordPress installation, thought I’d best do this so that my also new Twitter Account actually gets some posts made to it, cause at the moment it’s looking very very bare, bit like that old mother Hubbard’s cupboard.
The idea behind the plug-in is that any time you update your blog with a new post it updates your twitter status with your blog post, well that’s the idea anyway, so I’ve added this post to my blog to see if it actually works . .
That’s all I have to suffer before I’m off for the New Year, but god is it suffering today, due to a problem with my MD re: System Administrators god given right to go on other users PC’s when there not in to do system maintenance on their PC’s (He’s said we can’t do that as there might be users private information on the PC’s, there company PC’s there should’nt be), I’m having to spend the day doing the accounts filing as there’s not much in the way I can do with regards IT if I are’nt allowed on peoples PC’s.
You know you could’nt make this sort of thing up, every month there’s something more ridiculous that you either have to do or you are’nt allowed to do, it’s like being in Prison but with some sort of surreal OCD suffering Governor in charge, just got to hold out until the spring and pray the job market is picking up and then start looking in ernest for another job, preferably one where they actually let you do your joB.
Anyway enough ranting about work for the moment as there’s more important things to rant about . . like the daily papers in the UK :
Today’s tabloid headlines have mostly been about Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard who apparently got into a ruckus in a bar/club last night and ended up spending part of the evening in a Police station, now I’m sure somewhere that is important news, but what about maybe instead of sticking a celebrity on the front page and highlighting their plight the papers actually did something different for a change and maybe tried to raise people awareness of whats actually happening in the real world . . say for instance the Gaza Strip, where at this moment the whole might of the Israeli Army is poised to enter the Gaza Strip in war, or how about celebrating the fact that the killers of Craig Brown a 2oyr old father killed on Christmas eve have been apprehended.
It shames me sometimes to read papers, the majority of todays papers are bowing down to peoples fascination with celebrity and giving up about 1/2 of there pages to stories about how such and such celebrity had a boob job, or someone who slept with another celebrity while doing a backwards handstand (ok that ones not true, but it might as well be).
Bring back proper papers that tell proper stories . .
The Christmas holidays are over and I’m back in the office wondering why I didn’t bother saving 3 days of my holidays so I wouldn’t have to be here, this year I must save some days, so I don’t have to go through with this torturous boredom that is work at Christmas
Its so quiet in here, there’s no talking, chatting or anything that resembles Christmas cheer, this is probably down to the MD being in with us, I could imagine it’d be a little bit more cheerful and livelier if he wasnt, but he’s the MD so we’ve all got to be quiet in that particular quiet way he likes (no talking unless or noise unless it’s work related).
The good thing about being back in work is that I got my secret santa, which was a rather nice collection of 3 different types of stuffed olives, also found out what I’d won in the christmas raffle, some “Stolhen Cake” and also got my present off my manager which was some “Sticky Pudding” flavoured wine and a box of luxury Mince Pies, Mince pies are’nt my favourite food, but as there “Luxury Mince Pies” I think I might just give them a try, will be sure to let you know my marks out of 10 for them.
Well a very Merry Christmas to all the people who read my blog and I hope Santa’s brought you all the present’s you’ve wished for, if not . . . its probably because you’ve been a bad boy/girl and you’ll just have to try and be good next year . . .
Yes I’ve been one of the unlucky one’s, I’ve spent the last 2 days holed up in bed with m body not knowing which end it wants to spontaneously produce bodily fluids first, horrible horrible experience I can tell you, on top of that I’ve had hot and cold sweats that have made sleeping near impossible, as of a couple of hours ago the sweats have stopped and I’m hoping the rest of the syptoms die down a bit so I can attempt to get in the car and head to Yorkshire to my mothers.
If I feel any better by about 3-4pm I’m going to have a go at driving across there, so keeping m fingers crossed, if I do manage it I should be back in Yorkshire for about 7-8pm.
Mel’s staying in Manchester as her father Fred’ back across from Ireland for the festive season, so gives them time to catch up, much the same way me going to Yorkshire gives me and Mum chance to talk, Mel, Gail, Sel and Fred are going for a meal later all being well, so there’ll be some more photo’s for the Moore clan on flickr at some point.
Time for me to bugger off now as need to start getting ready if I’m going to attempt 80 miles without being sick in the car, plenty of dry toast, Lucazade and a bottle of mineral water to prepare for the journey.
I’m guessing that I’m not the only person in the world this week who’s been trying to figure out what there going to get their work colleagues in the Secret Santa, I finally got around to getting mine and bringing it into work today after spending the best part of a week deciding what to get my Secret Santa.
First thing I wanted to get was one of these
This would have been ideal as he sometimes has a case of verbal diarrhea, but alas you cant get one of these for the statutory £5 your only allowed to spend on the present.
Anyway after much thinking I managed to get hold of something that is hopefully funny and useful to this person, just hoping he likes Hot Curries otherwise he won’t be able to use them.
Wonder what I’ll get this year, previous years I’ve received a Coughing Ashtray, a imitation Zippo Lighter, a Laughing Bottle Opener, a Book on how to have Calm Thoughts and the rest I can’t remember, but alas they’ve all been consigned to either the bin or some cardboard box in the garden shed, guessing most of the things I’ve sent have gone to similar homes after the buzz of Christmas was over.
Have I bought any presents yet ? Nope not a single one, mainly due to being very broke, but hopefully get paid tomorrow, so shall be using the money to fund Christmas and the New Year, some it will also be spent on an evening out with the boy’s, who I probably won’t be seeing at all over Christmas, mainly due to being at my mothers in Market Weighton.
It’s nice heading back to Weighton over Christmas, gives me chance to catch up on all the gossip and see friends for a couple of day’s, worst thing is deciding which friends I’m going to see and which friends I’ll let down, but when your only back for 2-3 days you have to make these sort of choices, you can’t see everyone and hopefully people will understand that, anyway there’s always the New Year when I can catch up with them.
It’ll be good to see my mum, not seen her for about 6-7 months now and I know Christmas can be quite hard when you know dad’s not around any more and having the rest of the family togeather at this time of year helps us all I think and we can remember him togeather, as I’m typing this I feel as if I want to cry, I do miss my dad, we may not have always been the best of friends at times, but he was always there when I really needed him and he did his best to guide me on the road we call life, so its good that I cry when I remember him.
Well as discussed in a previous post I acquired a virus/trojan on my PC and after spending hours trying to get rid of it I finally attempted attaching the hard-drive from said PC to another one as a secondary drive and using that PC scanned it with Malwarebytes Scanner software.
Malwarebytes found about 25 different Trojans installed on the system in various folders and thankfully removed them, so took the hard-drive back to the original PC and thankfully it let me boot into Windows without any problems, so ran Malwarebytes on it again and it came up negative for any more virus/trojans, so I’ve finally got my PC back up and running, took a hell of a long time to do it, but at least it’s clean now.
Hope that if anyone reading this blog gets this virus this information is of some use to you.
To find and remove this Virus/trojan you’ll need to get a copy of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software and if you can get your PC to boot into “safe mode with networking” install it on your PC update its database, turn off Restore in windows and then run it on the full/deep scan setting, depending on the size and amount of hard-drives you have this can take anything from 30mins- 1hr, once the scans done it will show you a list of the virus/trojans its found and then you just have to click on the remove button, it’ll then probably ask to do a reboot of your PC, once its done this just to be safe I’d run the Scan again, better safe then sorry.
