The old girls on her last legs

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Memories

Its a sad week I’ve had  . . .  my dear and trusted friend Mr Beamer has been diagnosed with terminal engine failure . .  we’ve had a good 5-6 years togeather me and Mr Beamer, but alas the long journeys and heavy usage have finally taken there toll, and its with sad eyes I must bid my BMW goodbye.

He’s been a good friend over the years taking us to 2 Big Chills, a journey round Ireland, 2 holidays to Cornwall, a holiday in Dorset, a couple of trips to the Lakes, he’s even been to Essex, but all those miles he’s clocked up just brought this day a little bit closer.

All being well he’s being replaced with a newer friend also called Mr Beamer, though this one’s a 2002 model rather than the 1996 model I’ve been driving round, so he’s only 8 years old, rather than 14, it’s going to be quite strange saying my final farewell’s to the old boy . . , but hopefully someone else will take over on his final journet to either spare parts heaven or scrapheap hell.

You were a good old car Mr Beamer and for that I salute you, I’ll always have our time-lapse car journeys to look back on fondly . . .  goodbye dear friend . .

Dom Joly is tops in my books . . . hes a fcuking star :)

Published by Vince under Birthdays,Daily Post,Twitter

Dom Joly . . what a gent

Well its Adams 40th birthday celebrations today and I was’nt able to make it down to London town to help him celebrate and to be honest I had’nt even bought him a card, so being the ever resourceful guy I am, I pondered on what I could get Adam for his birthday and some how get it to him on the very same day . .

Well after much thinking, ok not much thinking, I hit upon the idea of asking one of the nice celebs I follow on Twitter to ring Adam and tell him he”s a “Cunt” . . so who out of all the ones I follow do I ask . .  first up was Dom Joly, then I tried the DaliLama, then Arnie Terminator, Lauren Harris, Phil Jupitus, Eddy Chemical, Eddie Izzard to name just a few and out of all these the only one who answered me and offered there services was the hero that is Dom Joly.

I know Dom “Helloooo” Joly . . .  yes Dom Joly said he’d ring Adam and call him a cunt . .  so after giving Adam’s number to Dom a few minutes passed and then I got a call off Adam saying Dom Joly had just rang him and called him a “Cunt” . .  best present he’s ever had he goes on to say . .

So Dom if you ever read this . . .  THANKS AGAIN :)

Superfortress Overexposed Crash Site Bleaklow Moor

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Flickr Gallery

Over the Easter Bank holiday myself, Blue, Steve and Liam headed over to Bleaklow Moor just above Glossop to do a bit of exploring, as Steve had told us about a USAF Boeing Superfortress that had crashed there, it was part of the 16th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, Strategic Air Command, the Superfortress was on a routine 25-minute flight from RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire to the USAF base at Burtonwood.
The crash happened on the 3rd November 1948 in heavy cloud cover and sadly the crew comprising of 13 souls died in the crash.
Even over 60yrs later there is still quite a debris field across the top of the hill where it hit.

It was quite erie stood up there amongst the remaining wreckage, people still pay there respects as can been seen by the remeberance cross’s that have been placed beside one of the Superfortress’s 4 engines.

Such a sad end to so many lives in what was then and is still is a very windswept desolate place, will probably go back there in the summer when the weathers a bit better and explore the site a bit more.

Blue like Tatton Park

Published by Vince under Blue,Videos,YouTube SuperStar

Been taking Blue on her new walk over the past couple of weekends, the lovely Tatton Park, lots of grassland for her to run about on, lakes to play in, woods to explore and lots of new smells.

I can highly recommend Tatton Park for a nice day out, lots of nice open space to have a picnic and exercise the dog.

There’s also the lovely village of Knutsford nearby to explore with its narrow streets and shops and there’s a Market there the first Saturday of each month selling good country fair to cook for tea

6 months worth of hits in one day

Published by Vince under Blue,Daily Post,Twitter

Today i got the most hits on my blog its ever had in one day let alone 6 months, all thanks to Phil Jupitus re-tweeting a picture I sent him of my Cane Corso Blue wearing a pair of glasses, I’d tweeted the nice man Mr Jupitus mentioning how in the photo Blue reminded me of him in his glasses and the next thing I know he’s re-tweeted it to his followers.

I actually only realised this when I went on my blog this evening to make a post and while there checked my stats out for the day and wondered why there was were no stats showing for the previous day, investigated a bit more and realised that there were stats there but they were so low compared to to-days that they were hardly showing in the stats graph, it was just a long line with one hell of a spike for today, checked out a bit more to see what everyone had been looking at and realised it was the picture of Blue.

Its amazing what a tweet on twitter can lead to :) . . .  So Phil were ever you are right now cheers matey

Oh and here’s the picture which started it

I Love the smell of Napalm in the morning . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post

might have been one of my favourite lines in the movie Apocalypse Now, but for me this morning the worst smell was of burning oil coming through my car air vents this morning, thinking there’s something serious the matter with my car, checked the oil levels and they seemed OK, but still smell burning oil and the car’s got a very high temperature, am presently trying to get it booked into the local BMW garage to get it looked at, as can’t be without my car, need it to get to and from work as well as run god knows how many different errands.

Why do things like this always happen at the end of the month when your skint and have no money what so ever to spare, I just can’t be doing with this right now, especially what with it looking like I’ll just be getting the cost of living rise at work and that’s even looking as if it will be delayed for another month.

Someone up there must really really hate me right now to have this happen right now . .  heres hoping its nothing real serious . . .

Apprasial Day today

Published by Vince under Daily Post

Yes today was the day on our annual apprasial at work and for the first time in years I actually feel that I was apprasised . .

Spent nearly 4-5hrs discussing my job role with the company I work for with my new manager and how to move forward from the wilderness I feel I’ve been in, it felt good to be able to talk to someone and actually feel as if they are behind you, instead of previous apprasials where it just felt like we were going through the motions.

Thank you
