Kenny reached the grand old age of 50 last week along with Andy reaching the 40 mark, so they had a joint party to celebrate and used the oppurtunity to get everyone back togeather again.
It was good to see all the faces from the partys togeather again having a laugh and just generally getting on, party kicked off at of all places Stretford Cricket Club, then moved onto Lisa’s flat, where drinks flowed and people talked bollox (mainly due to what they’d had).
We left fairly early on in the morning 5:00am so maybe not so early, but the party carried on after we left, ending only when John, Ben and a few others decided to place most of Lisa food stuffs in the freezer . . . oh and after Ben had emptied a full bag of flour over the sleeping Lisa’s head (not nice Ben).
Gotta say Kenny was looking good for an old man and no doubt has many years left in him, all the best Kenny and Andy

Seems our Cane Corso Blue is suffering from another phantom pregnancy again, this is less then 4 months since the 1st time she had one.
For those of you who’ve never experienced a dog having a phantom/false pregnancy here’s a brief description of what you’ve got to look forward to:
False pregnancy: The hormonal cycle of the bitch assumes that pregnancy has occurred after every cycle, whether or not a mating has taken place. She will therefore experience the physiological changes of pregnancy over the next 2 months. She will have an increase in progesterone production, milk production and an increase in appetite. She may even go into mild labour.
The caregiver may notice physical and emotional changes, particularly 8-9 weeks after her last season. She may exhibit a change in preferred diet to blander food, fluid retention, and a wish not to take her usual amount of exercise, and she may hoard toys and treat them as puppies. There may be restlessness, lack of appetite, panting, trembling, whining and nest-building at the time she would have given birth. There may be a degree of aggression to perceived threats. She will usually return to normal after 2-3 weeks, 48hrs after the birth would have occurred.
All of the above we ourselves have experienced with Blue on both occasions now, as we aren’t going to be breeding from Blue, we’ve contacted a vet to arrange an appointment to bring her in and get her checked over and then to discuss having her spayed, as this is the only real way we’ve been told we can avoid her having another one in the future.
For the time being though we’re just going to have to take care of our little Princess and make sure that she doesn’t get to stressed until the phantom/false pregnancy’s run its course

BACK TOGETHER AFTER 25 YEARS!

Calling all dance music aficionados. You may never again get the chance to see such an impressive gathering of seminal Manchester DJ’s together at one unique event.
It’s nearly time for the electrospective.
4pm to 3am Saturday August 30th – just over a week to go!
None of these DJ’s should need any introduction, but just in case you don’t know who we’re talking about:
Greg Wilson, who’ll be hosting the event, was a major underground figure from back in the day – the first DJ to mix live on UK TV. Remembered for his cutting-edge Electro-Funk nights in the early 80’s at Legends and Wigan Pier, his groundbreaking mixes on Piccadilly Radio, and for his pioneering role at The Hacienda way back in ’83. Made a hugely successful return to DJing in the past 5 years after a 2 decade hiatus, and now appears at clubs and events throughout the world.
Colin Curtis is one of the most respected UK DJ’s of all. He played a key role in the development of not just one, but three major dance movements here in Britain – Northern Soul, Jazz-Funk and House, playing at a whole spectrum of influential venues in the North and Midlands, including Blackpool Mecca, The Ritz, Rafters, Cassinellis, The Powerhouse, Rock City, The Locarno, Berlin, The Playpen and Legends.
Between 1978 and 1986, Mike Shaft’s Piccadilly Radio Soul Show, ‘Takin’ Care Of Business’ was something of a Manchester institution. Along with Greg Edwards and Robbie Vincent in London, Mike completed the trio of most influential black music presenters in the UK. Also a major force in clubland, Mike would move on to BBC Radio Manchester, before launching specialist black / dance music station, Sunset, in 1989. All these years on, he can still be heard, in his inimitable style, on Radio Manchester.
Hewan Clarke is perhaps the quintessential Manchester DJ. He’s been playing quality tunes in the city for 3 decades, be it at Moss Side’s hallowed Reno, to The Haçienda, where he became the first resident in May ’82. A black music selector par excellence, Hewan has seen them all come and go down the years.
Having followed Greg Wilson into Wigan Pier and Legends, as well as taking over his Piccadilly mix slot in 1984, Chad Jackson was one of the first British DJ’s to fully master the Hip Hop styles of cutting and scratching, Jackson would later go on to become the DMC World Mixing Champion in 1987, and in 1990 scored a Top 3 hit with ‘Hear The Drummer (Get Wicked)’.
Also in attendance – original members of the great Manchester breakdance crews, Broken Glass & Street Machine, with Tim’ Bones’ Forde’s film, ‘The Birth Of British B Boys’, screened at 8pm.

When my mum gave birth to me, my father was still in the army, the now long gone RCT (Royal Corps of Transport) and he announced my birth in the RCT’s magazine “The Waggoners“, well recently I’ve been researching my fathers time in the Army and was lucky enough to be sent by the RCT Museum a number of snippets out of The Waggoners magazine and one of these happened to be that very same birth announcement, so here for your viewing pleasure is that snippet

So this one’s for you dad
