Kenny and Andys Birthday

Published by Vince under Birthdays,Daily Post

kennys party 071, originally uploaded by BagRat.

Kenny reached the grand old age of 50 last week along with Andy reaching the 40 mark, so they had a joint party to celebrate and used the oppurtunity to get everyone back togeather again.

It was good to see all the faces from the partys togeather again having a laugh and just generally getting on, party kicked off at of all places Stretford Cricket Club, then moved onto Lisa’s flat, where drinks flowed and people talked bollox (mainly due to what they’d had).

We left fairly early on in the morning 5:00am so maybe not so early, but the party carried on after we left, ending only when John, Ben and a few others decided to place most of Lisa food stuffs in the freezer . . . oh and after Ben had emptied a full bag of flour over the sleeping Lisa’s head (not nice Ben).

Gotta say Kenny was looking good for an old man and no doubt has many years left in him, all the best Kenny and Andy :)

Lazy Lazy Lazy . . .

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Videos

that’s what I am, just not had the energy to post on the blog on a regular basis for quite a while now, think its been the winter blues that have been causing it, all these dark nights when I’ve been getting home from work’s to blame.

I shall attempt to remedy that by telling you about things that I’ve done int the week that’s been and gone . .

Sunday was spent walking Blue and then heading over to electrik bar in Chorlton for a most enjoyable night of Sundays 1 Deck Session where the DJ on the deck that night was the wonderfully moustached Andrew Weatherall . . . and boy what a moustache he has . .

Over the course of the evening he played everything from Rockabilly, the Clash, the specials and just about anything else that took his fancy, thoroughly nice man and thoroughly good entertainment was had by all who attended, these 1 Deck sessions at electrik just get better.

Should also point you towards @undeleted’s Blog were you can find a much better write up of the evening and who is the man responsible for this pioneering new camera interview technique “The Chest and Chin”

Monday through to Wednesday weren’t all that exciting just the usual drudgery of work and wondering if we’d be hit by another white out with the snow, the only highlights were watching the new series of Survivors starting on the BBC, which gave me and no doubt a few other dotted around Manchester the opportunity to play spot the Mancunian location, the most obvious was the exterior of the Midland Hotel, where they took Tom to operate on, didn’t recognise anywhere else, but that’s probably down to the fact the BBC have moved production of the new series to Birmingham, so expect to see local shots around there in the coming episodes.

Also spent some time uploading a few more videos onto YouTube . .  yes and they were of the dog Blue, but do you blame me, she is after all the prettiest dog in the world

First up in her new video adventures is the quilt sucking episode, it seems that when you leave Blue alone in the bedroom she has a habit of bunching up the quilt and grabbing it in her jaws and just  “Sucking”

She treats it like its some sort of security blanket or something, anyway here’s the proof and just check out the so serious face when she clocks the camera filming her

Next up there’s Blue enjoying the summer in Longford Park, filmed this earlier on last year, but just never got around to uploading it

Then came Thursday and today, not much to blog about I’m afraid.

As for tomorrow there might be more to blog about, as I’ve instituted #DogClub on Twitter and will hopefully have a few peeps joining me and Blue on our Saturday morning walk around Ivy Green, though this might change to another location as yet undecided.

Also I must say hello to Adrian or to his friends Eddy Layton, who I’ve recently discovered reads my blog from time to time, so Eddy if your reading this say hello to my mum next time you see her and say hello Mrs L and Paul for me.

Dogwalk at Crosby Beach

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Flickr Gallery

Picture 017, originally uploaded by BagRat.

Well it seemed such a lovely day today that me and Mel decided to take Blue to the beach,  Crosby Beach was the place we headed to, mainly due to the fact we wanted to see the Another Place sculptures by Antony Gormley which are found there.
There are 100  figures which all face out to sea and are  spread over about a 2 mile stretch of Crosby beach, each figure is made from cast iron and about  6 feet tall

Pretty amazing site seeing all those sculptures spread out along the beach and seeing how the sea and tide have altered them, plus there’s the odd few that have been dressed up or altered in someway, be it with hats, scarves or paint, every so often you’d catch a glimpse of one out of the corner of your eye and think what the fcuk is he doing in the sea in these temperatures ?, then you’d realise it was a sculpture.
Its a very good beach to walk dogs on as well plenty of sand for the dogs to go mental on, Blue loved it, she got to meet lots of other dogs and had a right good runaround, she looked thoroughly knackered when we got back to the car, must admit I was pretty knackered myself, but definitely going to go back again soon and explore the area and beach a bit more.

A year with Blue . . .

Published by Vince under Blue,Daily Post,Flickr Gallery

Originally uploaded by BagRat

Seems it’s now been just over a year since we got Blue and its been a fun year, this rather large dog has certainly won us over with her flippy floppy ears and her grumpy/sad/happy face.

We’ve got fitter because of Blue, what with those morning and evening walks and the Saturday and Sunday strolls round Ivy Green and Sale Water Park, we’ve also met lots of new people because of Blue, she seems to attract strangers with her playdoh features face and her chilled disposition(never met such a chilled laid back dog).

We’ve still had no luck finding out which kennels/breeder Blue came from, still only know it was in Essex somewhere around abouts the 24th May 4 years ago, it’s a shame really as we’d love to know which Corso family she belongs to :(

I’ve had fun over the past 12 months filming Blue and her antics and look forward to filming more of this wonderful dog, she’s a natural for the camera, be it video or still and I hope you enjoy seeing her little movies on here as much as we enjoy making them.

Anyway its early in the morning and Blue’s sat here giving me that “Dad when are we going for a walk look” so I suppose I’d best get her lead and get some exercise.

Giant Bradley Days over

Published by Vince under Daily Post

Well it seems that this years Giant Bradley day went by with very little trouble compared to previous years, though the Griffin Inn suffered a smashed window, someone threw a bottle/brick through it as they ran past apparently , a crowd from the pub gave chase but never caught the culprit and Pizza Planet suffered the same fate in the early hours of Sunday morning, , the only other incidents that I heard of were a fight in the Beer Garden of the Half Moon and possibly an incident at the Londeborough Arms, neither of which I saw personally.

As for Giant Bradley day itself, I was slightly disappointed this year as there didn’t seem as many stalls as previous years and it appeared that only the very centre of the High Street was occupied by these few stalls, thus preventing some shops from getting the full advantage of the crowds who came (15,000 apparently, though I find this a little hard to believe).

They’d also managed to get the statue of the man himself up in time for the celebrations and remarkably he survived without any damage being done to him over the weekend (think alot of people were surprised by this, though there’s plenty of time between now and next years GB Day for something to happen to the big guy), I was at least expecting a Hull City scarf or maybe top to have been placed on him.

The weekend also gave me the chance to see a few face’s I hadn’t seen in a while and catch up on whats been happening in there life’s, didn’t get to see Gary this time round though, but did have the pleasure of his brother Dave for a little while.

My most enjoyable night of the weekend was going into the Griffin Inn and while buying a pint hearing a voice behind discussing me with someone, they were apparently telling this person I was a dodgy character or some such thing, upon turning round I discovered it was a gentlemen who was a few years younger then me at School called Kevin **rd (I think his names **rd anyway), so I asked him if he’d either like to repeat what he had said about me or at least have the decency in future to either say something to my face or ensure I wasn’t in earshot next time, I dont think he was prepared for that and proceeded to deny saying anything and then asking me what I’d heard him say, so I repeated his comments and continued to embarrass him in front of his friends, though I must admit his friends were kind enough to take the heat off him by taking up his case and asking if I was dodgy, I replied that at one time I may have been seen as a dodgy person, but then again that was 12 years ago and unlike them I have moved on with my life.

So Kevin if your reading this may I suggest that you to move on with your life and maybe get some new clothes, those you were wearing that night are starting to look a little bit dated, I’d also suggest that in future you refrain from making scurrilous remarks about people you know nothing about and stick to something that you do know “Propping a bar up in Market Weighton”

Apart from that little incident the weekend went well and as per usual the drinking carried on into the early hours.

Anyway just a quick hello to all those I met :

Widds, Nick Cayzer, Andy Kay, George, Sarah, Alice, Mike, Dean, Jeanie, Chris, Leslie, Jamie, Steve, Katie, Nikki, Wacca to name just a few

I should also mention as we were leaving Holme upon Spalding Moor on our way back to Manchester, we pulled up at the local shop to get some drinks and food for the journey and I saw Nick Durrant, someone I haven’t seen or heard from in over 22yrs, managed to say a quick hello and ask what he was doing, he’s living somewhere in Leicestershire now and was up here visiting him mother anyway as did’nt have much time to chat so we both said we’d look forward to seeing each again in another 20yrs

Works 175th Celebrationary Dinner

Published by Vince under Daily Post

It would seem that the company I work for are having a Celebratory dinner to mark the 175th yr since the company was founded, its being held at Manchesters Town Hall, they’ve got a comedian and a couple of after dinner speakers there, so it looks like it might be a good night . .  for some . .

Now we’ve all known about this in the office for quite a while even though we we’re’nt supposed to know, we also knew that only Managers and about 4 of the 11 office staff were being invited to it, a number of murmurings were heard around the office when people found out who had been invited and a number of people were disappointed that they had’nt got an invite, especially after working there longer then some who had got invites.

Well this evening I found out that now out of the 18 office staff (19 if you include one who’s been off on sick/compasinate leave), all but 3 (4 if you include one who’s been off on sick/compasinate leave) have now been invited, this I’m guessing is due to suppliers/customers saying they can’t attend, anyway how did I find out your asking yourself . . .  well this evening as I’m about to leave work I get called over by my MD and informed that the companys having this do (we’re not supposed to know remember) and that he’s sorry to say that I won’t be getting an invite along with the other 2 (3 if you include one who’s been off on sick/compasinate leave), the reason being for my lack of invite is that as a member of the IT Team I don’t have any day to day dealings with customers or suppliers, which is fair enough I suppose, but that got me thinking why are the other members of the IT Dept going then . . I’m just hazarding a guess here but I’m pretty sure its something to do with my face not fitting, cause thats the usual reason the MD has for excluding me or for targetting me for shit at work, I’ve also got a pretty good idea why the other 2 have’nt been invited, but thats not for me to say on here, anyway all I can really say is I’m dissapointed, but not surprised.

Well I hope you all have a really good time at the works do and maybe in another 175yrs I might just get an invite . . . well if my faces fits by then that is !

Sunday Football Leagues want Shooting

Published by Vince under Daily Post

Just taken Blue for her walk around the field opposite and rather then spend 1/2 hr walking round with her, I’ve actually spent 1hr cleaning up the @!#$ left by the football team’s.

Its bad enough they leave empty water bottle and food wrappers and the such like, but today they’ve gone one better, they’ve been using coathangers to keep the goal netting in place and instead of getting rid of them after the match is over, what do they do they leave them stuck in the ground with pointy bits of cut metal protruding all along the back of the goal, all it takes is for some poor kid or anyone to fall trip over one of them and end up with another one of them stuck in some part of there face/body . . .

Fcuking Sunday League Footballers want shooting . .

Work was Robbed today

Published by Vince under Daily Post

As you can probably see been busy again so not had chance to update this page for a while, so suppose I’d better tell you what I’ve been doing of recent.

Well I been to my mothers twice in Nov, this time managed to visit a few friends in Hull who I haven’t seen for a while (Hello Marni & Paul), tried out a new Street Bar they have on Princess Ave called the Pavement which was ok for Hull, the food was reasonably priced 22 for 4 x main meals not bad less than 6 a head, plus they sell Hoegarden (Beer of the Gods), rest of the time I was back was spent in Market Weighton Pubs getting pissed. Things have been busy at home at the moment with it coming up to Xmas, what with present buying and decorations, only 7 days to go till the big-day when we all exchange gifts that we don’t really need unless we actually buy them ourselves. As for what been going on at work, well apart from having the place robbed in broad daylight while we were all working upstairs, we discover later that they’d actually gone and comeback 3 times in the space of 2hrs, yes I did say 3 times, they got away with over 10,000 of tools and a 2600 plasma screen ffs. So as you can guess the Boss Mans not been the most happiest chappy of recent, lets just hope he chills in time for X-mas. On a lighter note I’ve organised a Guess the Baby contest at work everyone has to bring in a baby photo and then we all bung in a 1 and whoever can put the most names to the face will win the pot, its not only lucrative for the winner, but dead funny to look at, try it at your workplace.
