One of the real nice things about the cottage we are staying at in Ruswarp is the birdfeeder attached to the Sun Terrace outside our veranda doors, every morning we’ve been here we’ve sat outside to have breakfast and without fail every morning we’ve been joined for breakfast by various woodland birds, along with the odd squirrel or two.
Its so quiet and peaceful here, a really great place to recharge our batteries, Blue likes it to as theres a nice little woodland path nearby which we explore every morning with her.
While we’ve been here we’ve managed to visit Goathland, home of the 60′s themed Heartbeat TV show, Filey and Whitby itself, where we wondered up to the old Abbey above the town, you find photos of our journeys on my flickr page, the link to which is listed on this blog.
Today where heading to a place called the Birch Hall Inn, a little pub that a twitter friend @shiveringgoat recommended to us, looks a rather quaint place and is apparently very dog friendly, will report back later on how it held up to his recommendations.
Kenny reached the grand old age of 50 last week along with Andy reaching the 40 mark, so they had a joint party to celebrate and used the oppurtunity to get everyone back togeather again.
It was good to see all the faces from the partys togeather again having a laugh and just generally getting on, party kicked off at of all places Stretford Cricket Club, then moved onto Lisa’s flat, where drinks flowed and people talked bollox (mainly due to what they’d had).
We left fairly early on in the morning 5:00am so maybe not so early, but the party carried on after we left, ending only when John, Ben and a few others decided to place most of Lisa food stuffs in the freezer . . . oh and after Ben had emptied a full bag of flour over the sleeping Lisa’s head (not nice Ben).
Gotta say Kenny was looking good for an old man and no doubt has many years left in him, all the best Kenny and Andy
Well what can I say except that the Unabombers End of Year Riot at Electriks at Legends was a belter of a night . . the venue the DJ’s, the music and most of all the people were fantastic, not had a night out as much fun as that in god knows how many years . . . has definitely set me up for tonight’s NYE party at Electriks Bar.
I took a few picture of the night and am still in the process of uploading them to flickr, should hopefully have them all uploaded later on today, so keep checking back, didn’t get any video footage as it was way to dark in there to film.
Highlights of my night apart from the music and the people were the lovely Gemma who I know from going to Electriks Bar was recognizing me and asking where Blue was and some absolutely bolloxed up guy ambling across to me, grabbing me by the hand, shaking it profoundly and saying he was very upset that my Essential Mix on Radio 1 hadn’t been voted the top mix of the decade . . . looking a little bemused I asked him who he thought I was . . apparently according to him he thought I was Brandon Block . . made me laugh . .
Anyway the night was a right good laugh, met some really nice people, who I shall hopefully bump into again at some point . ., guessing the same will happen tonight.
So before go better wish you all a Happy New Year and hope to see you on the other side later
As usual headed across to Weighton for Christmas day with my mum and my 2 sisters, though this time rather than Christmas dinner at my mum’s, we headed across to my sister Glynis’s new gaf, where she and her partner Dave put on a rather tasty dinner for me and my mum, also got a guided tour of the place, looks quite nice and she and Dave have put alot of work into making it a home.
Also popped in on Jackie my other sister and her family, dropped off a bottle of wine and picked up presents from her for me and mel, after seeing Jackie decided to head up to Londesborough to go see my oldest friend in Market Weighton Gary Duggleby, been a while since I’ve seen Gary so it was nice to catch up with him, also gave me the chance to take some photos in and around the place where the old hall stood at Londesborough, all that remains of the place above ground it the entrance door stairs and a few ornamental vases, Gary was telling me that the halls cellars are still intact underground and that he’d actually been down there once, looking at the size of the entrance stairs of the hall, it must have been a pretty grand place in its day.
After seeing a few more friends I helped my mum with a few computer issues she had and then decided to head back to Manchester where I’m sat now typing up this record of the Christmas events.
Anyway check the pictures out and feel free to leave a comment or two if you like them.
Now I’m just chilling waiting for tomorrow night to come so I head off into Manchester for Electrik Chairs End of Year Riot
As regular readers of this blog will know I am proudly owned by a Cane Corso called Blue and as part of this ownership deal, Blue insists that I take her out with me where ever I go and film her exploits and introduce her to anyone and everyone, when Blue first decided she wanted to be owned by me I spent alot of time on the internet discovering more about her family(breed) and during these forays on google I discovered a place where other people owned by Cane Corso’s met . . a place called The Friends of the Cane Corso or FOCC for short.
Well Blue being Blue she just had to share her videos and escapades with all those other Cane Corso friends and over the past 2 years shes regualrly posted her videos and met other Cane Corso’s and the people they own and those nice people this year decided to honour her work as Ambassador for the breed and this is what they had to say :
It’s my extrememly happy duty to inform you all that the FOCC and BCCS have created an annual award for ‘services to the Cane Corso and being a positive ambassador for the breed’.
This award is given to an FOCC Corso, who the BCCS committee feels has consitently through the year worked hard to show the breed in a positive light. In this instance it is awarded to someone who not only keeps her own blog, but meets as many other owners as she can, comes to Corso events, keeps the community updated with pictures and videos that lift the spirits, and never stops learning. Her owners are a joy to talk to, and make sure she’s always spreading the Corso love! So without further ado, on behalf of the British Cane Corso Society and Friends of Cane Corso: Cane Corso of the year 2009 goes to….. BLUE! Owned by Sunscream. Congratulations and keep up the good work in 2009!
For those who’ve not met Blue before allow me to introduce her by way of one of her first video’s
If you enjoyed this video of Blue and want to see more of her you can find a link to my YouTube and flickr accounts listed on the right of this page.
To all those who know Blue can expect her to carry on promoting the Cane Corso breed in a positive loving way . . .
Heres some photo’s I took of Blue at Longford Park enjoying the fresh layer of snow that fell on Saturday in Manchester, as you can see from the picture I think she quite likes the snow . . .
Also just took some general photos of the Park in its winter blanket of snow, think I got a few good ones, including a couple of Mel
Afterwards we headed to Electriks in Chorlton for a much needed Mulled Wine and a sausage bagguette, also sorted out our tickets for New Years eve at Electriks end of year Riot, which should be a corker I reckon
and all I’ve done is take Blue for 2 walks round Chorlton and chilled the rest of the weekend away, though I have spent about 4hrs geotagging alot of my flickr photo’s, so now at least people can see where they were taken, also started to make a few sets out of our Cornwall and Dorset holiday photo’s as they were a bit messy to be honest.
Also watched the movies Moon and Pandorum, the Moon is well worth seeing, but Pandorum’s just a basic SciFi scarer, nothing special, also got hold of District 9 which I hope to get around to watching sometime tomorrow evening, look pretty good and the reviews I’ve heard of it seem to agree, anyway work in the morrow so sorry its a crappy post, but its been a quiet weekend.
enjoying a nice sausage sarnie at electriks washed down with a double shoot latte, that’ll wake me up and get me raring to go if nothing else.
Will have to go shopping ton Aldi afterwards though need to do a big shop after the hol’s as the cupboards are bare, not even a bone for poor old Blue to chew on
So what plans do we have for tonight ? thinking maybe of going to Ben’s tonight and catching up with him, as been a while since we’ve seen him, so should have plenty to gossip about I reckon, plus theres the Hot Tub to use, that’ll definately get rid of all these knots in my back and shoulders that are left from the 9hr drive back from Cornwall.
Anyway to see what Chorlton Water Park looks like check out the latest photo’s I’ve uploaded to Flickr, I’ve taken a few Panoramics of the water park to give you a good view of the place and let you see why its one of mine and Blues favourite walks
So where back from our 2 week holidays in Dorset and Cornwall and I’ve finally uploaded all our holiday snaps to our flickr account for you all to check out, hope you enjoy them and feel free to comment on any you like
