Kenny reached the grand old age of 50 last week along with Andy reaching the 40 mark, so they had a joint party to celebrate and used the oppurtunity to get everyone back togeather again.
It was good to see all the faces from the partys togeather again having a laugh and just generally getting on, party kicked off at of all places Stretford Cricket Club, then moved onto Lisa’s flat, where drinks flowed and people talked bollox (mainly due to what they’d had).
We left fairly early on in the morning 5:00am so maybe not so early, but the party carried on after we left, ending only when John, Ben and a few others decided to place most of Lisa food stuffs in the freezer . . . oh and after Ben had emptied a full bag of flour over the sleeping Lisa’s head (not nice Ben).
Gotta say Kenny was looking good for an old man and no doubt has many years left in him, all the best Kenny and Andy
I signed up to help raise awareness of poverty on my blog today along with thousands of other blogger around the world, at the time I thought I’d know what to write, but now when it comes down to it, I’m not sure exactly how to get that message across in words, not because I can’t write the word, because I’m actually one of the lucky ones who’ve never had to suffer the consequences of living in poverty.
Poverty is something that effects about 1/2 of the human population and most of these are children who through not fault of there own have been born into it, all over the world today while I’m typing this and your reading it theres a child doing what ever it takes to make a living, where instead this child should be at school getting an education.
I think that the eaiest way to eaxplain to you what poverty means around the world to children is to show you.
All this child did to deserve the life she lives now is to have her parents die and now she spends her life as a child slave
Thes children are used to smuggle flour across borders so that the people who they work for can profit from higher prices.
Poverty does’nt just effect the children it also effect adults and these adults don’t just live in what you expect to be poverty striken countries, there’s poverty all over the world.
Poverty is’nt just confined to 3rd world countries
I know this is’nt the best post you’ll read today about poverty, but maybe by looking at these videos it might make you a bit more aware of how poverty is effecting the world, its people like you and me who can maybe just help these people around the world, be it from making a monthly donation to a charity, maybe writing/lobbying your MP, offering your free time or by just teling other people about what you know, all these things can help a little and beleive it even a little helps.
But why would you want to donate ?
Your helping charities vacinnate children against disease that might otherwise kill them
Your helping supply clean water
Your providing new health centres, houses and education to people who might otherwise not have these things that you and me might take for granted.
But why give your free time ?
Well your free time could be spent building these health centres, running soup kitchens, providing support for people who might otherwise have no on to turn to and maybe just maybe you might be doing something to help end poverty.
As you can see from my post I can’t really talk about poverty because as I said at the begining I’ve never suffered from it, but I’m trying to make a difference !
What are you doing right now to make a difference ?
