6 months worth of hits in one day

Published by Vince under Blue,Daily Post,Twitter

Today i got the most hits on my blog its ever had in one day let alone 6 months, all thanks to Phil Jupitus re-tweeting a picture I sent him of my Cane Corso Blue wearing a pair of glasses, I’d tweeted the nice man Mr Jupitus mentioning how in the photo Blue reminded me of him in his glasses and the next thing I know he’s re-tweeted it to his followers.

I actually only realised this when I went on my blog this evening to make a post and while there checked my stats out for the day and wondered why there was were no stats showing for the previous day, investigated a bit more and realised that there were stats there but they were so low compared to to-days that they were hardly showing in the stats graph, it was just a long line with one hell of a spike for today, checked out a bit more to see what everyone had been looking at and realised it was the picture of Blue.

Its amazing what a tweet on twitter can lead to :) . . .  So Phil were ever you are right now cheers matey

Oh and here’s the picture which started it

End of Year Riot . . was a Riot

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Flickr Gallery

Well what can I say except that the Unabombers End of Year Riot at Electriks at Legends was a belter of a night . .  the venue the DJ’s, the music and most of all the people were fantastic, not had a night out as much fun as that in god knows how many years . . .  has definitely set me up for tonight’s NYE party at Electriks Bar.

I took a few picture of the night and am still in the process of uploading them to flickr, should hopefully have them all uploaded later on today, so keep checking back, didn’t get any video footage as it was way to dark in there to film.

Highlights of my night apart from the music and the people were the lovely Gemma who I know from going to Electriks Bar was recognizing me and asking where Blue was :) and some absolutely bolloxed up guy ambling across to me, grabbing me by the hand, shaking it profoundly and saying he was very upset that my Essential Mix on Radio 1 hadn’t been voted the top mix of the decade . . .  looking a little bemused I asked him who he thought I was . .  apparently according to him he thought I was Brandon Block . .  made me laugh . .

Anyway the night was a right good laugh, met some really nice people, who I shall hopefully bump into again at some point . ., guessing the same will happen tonight.

So before  go better wish you all a Happy New Year and hope to see you on the other side later

Twitter2Press a new Plugin

Discovered a nifty little plugin for WordPress today called Twitter2Press it allows you to turn part of your WordPress blog into an image hosting service for all those pictures you tweet, you know the ones that normally got to twitpic or one of the other Twitter picture hosting services.

Its fairly easy to set up and you can be up and running with it on your blog in about 5 minutes flat, I’m using Tweetie 2 to post the tweets at the moment as this seems to be the only iphone twitter client that allows you to choose a custom image hosting service, though i could be wrong (feel free to correct me).

So what are the benefits of hosting your Twitter generated pictures on your WordPress blog, well for a start you don’t have to point links to them if you what to post them on your blog, there already here, not much of a benefit I suppose, it also in a sense allows you to mobile post to your blog using the medium of pictures, but the best benefit of hosting them is now people on Twitter are now being directed to your blog rather than some image hosting company, so your getting all that extra traffic, and all that extra traffic might just decide to read your blog and maybe even follow it, so it’s hopefully bringing new followers to your own little space on the interweb :)

Anyway time to eat the Tuna and Lemon grass stirfry I just tweeted about mmmmm yummy

No More pictures on my Desk

Published by Vince under Daily Post,Work

Desk_Frames02

Well I’ve been back from my holidays for less than a week and already I’m hating being back at work.
First day back was Monday and within an hour of being at work I was called into the MD’s office and informed that my desk drawers were untidy and that as they were company drawers the MD expected them to be tidy, so Monday morning was spent tidying my drawers and ensuring that there was nothing in them that might make them untidy.
I was also informed that I could’nt have the framed picture of my dog on my desk because the 6 x 4 frame was to big, as apprently while I was away the MD brought in a clear desk policy, we are not allowed calendars on our desk’s(well we are but they have to be cleared away into our drawers at 5:00pm).

God its so great to be working where I am, such a clean friendly workplace, everyone getting along and all suffering under this one person. At least we have something in common to talk about at lunch now, you’d think we could’nt be surprised by the guy anymore, but you just never know what he’s going to do or say next.

In other news I was also informed in this meeting that as my Line Manager was soon to be leaving the company and that she was going on a 3 day week, the MD would now become my MD of sorts, so any issues I have I’m to bring up with him, how I cried with joy afterwards, I was also informed that there would be no need for me to speak to her or the other member of systems as we would now have nothing to discuss as the other person would be concetrating on one system in particular that I have no experience of and I would be dealing with all the other systems and that my Line Manager would now be concetrating on training up her replacment in one of the other depts, ” A sort of Berlin Wall would be erected between me and them and no one would be getting over or under it so to speak” not my words my MD’s, “You’ll be in your own little bubble your own zone, a little dept of its own” his words again as best I can remember.

Alone at last, all by myself, just me, no one else . . . . maybe this is what being sent to Coventry is like . . .

Quiet weekend

Published by Vince under Blue,Daily Post

Picture 095, originally uploaded by BagRat.

Did’nt really post to much over the weekend as I spent quite alot of it in bed, due to being called out to an alarm call at my workplace, was there from midnight Friday till 5:30am Saturday morning, so spent quite a while in bed recovering.

So seeing as most of Saturday was spent in bed thought we#d better do something on Sunday, was’nt sure what to do or where to go, but in the end we decided on Chelford Car boot.

Got there for about 12:30 and spent a good hour or so just wondering round looking for bargain’s but think we missed most of them, so just ended up buying lots of quaility cheeses instead, more about those in another post.

After leaving we thought we’d best take Blue for a walk and on the way back we chanced upon Styal Estate a rather good dog walking place, we’d heard about it before but never actually bothered to go look for it, really wish we had cause its definatly a dog friendly walk, lost of paths and fields for Blue to galavant in, I’ll stick some photo & videos up this weekend so you can see for yourselfs.

Anyway its close to 8:00am and I’d better start making my way to work, cyas laters

Went and checked out Davyhulmes Millenium Nature Reserve at the weekend with Blue our Cane Corso, the whole site covers about 8 hectares of land along side about 3/4 mile of the west bank of Manchesters Ship Canal , the reserve is a mixed landscape of wetland, woods, water features & open land.

You can do everything from bird watching, walking, cycling there as well as having a traditional picnic on one of the benchs provided.

The site is owned and maintained by United Utilities and part of it is a designated Site of Biological Importance.

Just uploaded a few pictures to flickr of our Cane Corso Blue, not the best pictures in the word, slightly blurred to be honest, but I think they certainly capture some of who she is and why we love her so much

Poor Poor Caravan

Published by Vince under Daily Post

Picture 067, originally uploaded by BagRat.

Well this is all that remains of Bernie’s caravan and her daughters boyfriend Johnny’s car after somebody decided to torch it in the early hours of Sunday morning.

No idea who’s done it and the Police don’t appear to be all that interested in the situation, they’ve just told her that it’s her responsibility to have the remains removed as there a health hazard due to all the toxin’s that were released when the caravan was alight, so as well as losing the caravan, Bernie’s then got to find £150 to get the thing removed, don’t know what Johnny’s going to do with his car as yet, guessing his insurrance company will come and take that away at some point, the only good thing to come out of the whole incident is that thankfully no one was hurt.
